More gaming news from Variety this morning, who report that publisher EA are set to axe their ailing 'social gaming' division, Blueprint.

EA recently announced huge losses, and their share price has also been suppressed in recent weeks, prompting secret Blueprint projects to be culled - developers laid-off or moved onto other teams.

"We want to find a new way to make games with smaller teams… We focus on creating IP in new ways for our media and finding smart ways to spread it across the media landscape," boss Neil Young said at GDC, announcing the division. Young left EA during the summer.

More positively, we're also told that Boom Blox 2 is well underway at EA, although this news will come as scant joy for the 6% of EA staffers set to be laid-off.
