Nintendo of America's second-in-command, Cammie Dunaway, reckons the casual-bating Wii console could start to grab the attention of more and more so-called 'hardcore' gamers come 2009.

The executive believes that new games being released for the disruptive console in the new year will see 'proper' gamers starting to embrace the system more wholeheartedly thanks to Ninty's "breadth of offerings".

"Well, certainly, I feel there are titles that should make that group stand up and pay attention next year," Dunaway revealed to MTV Multiplayer.

"If you look at something like The Conduit, that's really pushing the edge of graphic capabilities on the Wii and doing things that people didn't think were possible. And I think, one, that makes other developers stand up and take notice. And two, that makes consumers say, 'Huh. Maybe there's something to this.'"

The Conduit isn't the only more traditional title on the way for the Wii, either, Sega's MadWorld is also mooted and who knows, maybe the Zelda team will have something to show us as well.
